I'm back! Amarantha/Finch Story

So I've been gone for another.... Hmm 3 months?  Without a single post?  Geez.. I'm sorry I've kept you guys waiting.  Anyway, I'm back and with something really special to share with you all.  Daisy @LeadTheRevels (It feels so weird not saying Caught Daydreaming anymore..) and I have come up with a story, a two-parter that we'll add on more if you guys really like it.  So, here we go:

It seemed like he had fallen asleep only moments ago, but here he was.  He stood from where he lay, in the middle of a field of lilies, but not any regular ones.  Ones tinted violet, the earth beneath a shade of navy blue. The sky above him moved like a galaxy, like you could see every world that there ever was reflected in its milky green-and-blue haze.  Little vines were shooting up from the ends of the lilies, twining themselves around his wrists. They seemed to wrap around him, holding him in place. At first he could just pull himself from them, as he began to explore this great new world.  His naturally dull, ashen black hair was shaded millions of different colors, dotted in the light, as rainbows and bright white lights spotted across the world around him.

Then he felt uncomfortable, and looked down. The vine had wrapped its way fully around his wrist, holding him in place.  He attempted to walk, but it was strong, not a wimpy vine that he had seen before. As it held him in place, another vine held him back as well, roping around his other arm, then two around each ankle, rooting him to the spot he stood in. As if on a whim, all the ground in this world seemed to crack and fall, fall… Fall into an abyss that was below him.  Only a small circle, where he himself was rooted, remained. He struggled, trying to get out of the vines, but they were strong, unnaturally strong. As he looked into the distance, the abyss, which looked just like the sky, an infinite sky, he saw something.. Something… A light, coming towards him.

And he remembered.

Everything.

He stopped struggling as the figure came closer, every bit as beautiful as he had remembered her.  Every bit as terrifying as she was when he had last saw her.

“When I saw the flowers, I’m surprised I didn’t know it was you who brought me here.”

She smiled, almost.. Sadly.  However, her hair was wild, her eyes with visible tear tracks, tear tracks of unnatural blue tears, deep and rich.  Those tears, the disease she’d infected herself with. He remembered, she wanted to become stronger, more powerful, have more magic, more magic, more abilities, more possibilities…

“It's like old times, isn’t it?”  She said, her voice hauntingly similar to their last meeting.

She came closer, she was pale, her hair had always been this messy, she always brushed it but it always frizzed back up.  It was silver, though.

“I miss your old hair.”  he said, looking at the sky.  “It was the most beautiful lilac color.  You remember, right?”

She said nothing, just looking back at him.

There were so many things that both of them had done wrong in their past lives, so many things that didn’t have to happen.  It seemed like since they were finally here, they could remember, could reflect. She had been the villain in his story, he had been…. He had been a hero, a friend.. more than a friend.

He hung his head, the woman standing in front of him still.

“Where did you-we-go wrong?

Amarantha.”
